James Cameron has produced some of the most successful movies in history. After ‘Titanic’ took off, he was basically written a blank check to produce any movie he wanted.
I’ve actually never seen Titanic, but I did see Terminator, so I’m interested in his new movie ‘Avatar’. While no expense was spared (especially in the publicity department) I’ve seen it universally panned.
I know nothing of the story, except it takes place on a CGI planet full of blue people.
The experiment is: what happens when you give a creative person with commercial success unlimited resources (both financially and creatively with use of pervassive technology) and give them free reign to create anything they can imagine.
After a decade of work, hundreds of millions of dollars, and commissioning a new language, you get Avatar. I’m at the earliest showing in Sarasota to watch the premiere. I’ll let you know what I though after it’s over.
